In the first half of 2024, the global market saw a total of 206 new bulk carrier orders, amounting to 19.976 million deadweight tonnage (DWT), marking a 22.0% year-on-year decline. However, Capesize bulk carrier orders surged by an impressive 180%, reaching 41 vessels and 8.957 million DWT, matching the annual levels of 2022 and 2023.
